Router Sled - Important Jig!
This router sled jig is so simple! Video at the bottom!
All you need for this build:
Circular Saw
Drill
8 bolts
8 nuts
16 washers
1”x6” board
What do you need a Router Sled for?
A router sled is extremely useful and handy when you need to flatten a board or slab that is wider than your planer. I’ve used this style sled for years. I originally used angled aluminum instead of iron. The issue with that is that aluminum is flexible. If you press hard down on the router you will see the flex in the angled aluminum.
What do you use for the bed?
I use an MDF bottom and milled out alder to make the straight rails. These rails will keep the sled flat and straight while you make passes with your flattening bit.
